About Me - and why you should get a quote here
My name is Austin Davis, and I am the owner and webmaster of this site. My family has been in the auto repair business since 1937, and I am the 3rd generation. We run a large repair shop in Houston, TX and have a great reputation for being honest and doing top quality workmanship.
We also have a body shop and 16 tow trucks, and work very closely with many auto insurance companies on a daily basis. I know how the insurance companies work and how they cut costs...at the expense of shotty car repairs to your vehicle. I can not mention names or which companies are the worst to deal with, but I can tell you about an online service that I really like.
Comparison Market, (the form below) has access to many of the smaller lesser known insurance companies, and to be honest, some of them are much better to work with than the big boys. Why? When your vehicle is involved in a wreck the vehicle is usually towed off the scene and either to a storage lot or a repair shop, a few days later a insurance adjuster or appraiser will visit your car and write up an estimate. The big insurance carriers have their own team of adjusters in just about every city in the US, but the smaller carriers use independent adjusters and appraisers.
This is to your benefit because: These independent appraisers get a commission on the overall price of the estimate that THEY wrote for your vehicle. So, they are usually much more liberal with the repair estimate, using new parts instead of used parts where as the big boys prefer to buy used parts, and they are more open to any additional repairs without a fight.
The big boys will only repair the damage they consider to be related, and rarely take the repair shop and sometimes the vehicle owners' testimonial of what was and was not PRIOR damage to the vehicle. Trust me, most insurance companies will do whatever it takes to NOT pay on your claim...or to pay as little as legally possible.
Where as the independent appraisers don't want to fight, they just want to fix the vehicle and keep everyone happy. So, who would you rather have working for you...an appraiser/estimator that just wants to make you happy (and get paid for doing so) or an appraiser who is told by his or her superiors to CUT COSTS!!
This is extremely important because the big boys are charging a premium for their services, when you can get better service at a substantially cheaper price.....without sacrificing quality or dependability. So, try it for yourself.
